Make your season count for your development
Your Season Is Rolling. Here's How to Make It Count for Your Individual Game Too.
Spring is here. Your school team or town program is in full swing. You have daily practice, weekend games, the whole thing. It's the best time of the year! Lacrosse season!
But here at the Rippers, we think about spring a little differently. While you're competing for your school or town program, we're already thinking about you — the individual player — and what this window means for your development before summer club ball arrives.
The spring season is obviously one of the best development opportunities of the entire year. You're getting real game reps every week, and you're practicing every day (or at least a few times a week). The pressure can be high, but the focus is mostly on the team over the individual. Coaches are focused on preparing the full team for success, and less focused on individual skills.
If you're intentional about it though, you can come out the other side of this spring season a measurably better player than when you went in.
That's what the Rippers are all about. Player development to help you reach your goals, whatever they are.
Who We Are
The Oregon Rippers are a local club lacrosse program built around one thing: individual player development. We're not a team you try out for; we're a community of players, parents, and coaches who believe that great lacrosse development happens close to home, with people who actually know you.
We run summer and fall programs for players from 3rd grade through high school, and our coaches have decades of experience developing players at every level across the Pacific Northwest. More on them in the weeks ahead.
But right now, in the spring, the Rippers are in our offseason. That means our focus is on you, wherever you're playing right now.
What This Series is For
Every week through the spring we're going to post something useful. A skill to work on. A mindset tip. A coaching perspective. A resource for parents. A preview of what summer looks like with the Rippers.
Whether you're a returning Rippers player, a family considering joining us this summer for the first time, or just someone who found us and wants to learn: welcome! We're glad you're here.
One Thing to Do This Week
Pick one skill you want to be noticeably better at by the time the spring season wraps up. Just one. Write it down somewhere you'll see it. We're going to give you the tools to work on it over the next few months, but it starts with knowing what you're chasing.
We'll be back next week with our first skill breakdown. In the meantime, have some fun playing this weekend!
